Independant Curator

Tell us about yourself

I'm an independent curator working in London and Mumbai. I obtained an MA in Critical and Contextual Art Practices from Birmingham City University in 2006 after which I started her curatorial career as founder and director of TROVE, an independent art gallery in Birmingham, which ran from 2009 to 2013.

My research themes include working site responsively to tell histories and stories through art interventions, looking at the domestic as a curatorial space and researching curatorial methodologies as seen through my recent work as director and podcast host of the Institute of Curiosity & Curating. I am also currently an independent curator, Studio Manager to Barbara Walker and co-director of SqW:Lab in Mumbai.

What excites you about being part of the ARTCRY panel?

Collaboration with panel and advocating for time sensitive political commentary by creative people.

What components would your dream application have?

Something with a clear statement, that disrupts but doesn’t disrespect.

The Steering Committee

The company directors and panel are involved on an individual capacity, not representing their organisations and on a voluntary basis.

If you are interested in joining the panel in future please email Kathryn Bilyard on kathryn@artcry.co.uk with some information about yourself and why you are interested.
