Tell us about yourself

I started my career with The Body Shop, setting up new franchisees overseas. I was hugely influenced by Gordon and Anita Roddick and the passion they had to campaign for what they believed in. I transferred my management skills to the arts, and still feel they are a good vehicle for social change. I now run Emergency Exit Arts who are imbued with a spirit born out of a reaction to Thatcher saying there was no such thing as community. We try to help build community in every art project we undertake, and to astonish audiences with moment of wonder.

What excites you about being part of the ARTCRY panel?
I’m excited about being a rapid reaction force! EEA is nimble, but as a charity and publicly funded organisation needs to be careful in what it does and says. I’m excited about hearing urgent, necessary ideas from creative and hopefully saying “yes” to a few. I’m interested in the process and what I can learn from fellow panellists and the process.

What components would your dream application have?

Passion, clarity, urgency, headline grabbing, ability to move people, needed now!
The Steering Committee
The company directors and panel are involved on an individual capacity, not representing their organisations and on a voluntary basis.
If you are interested in joining the panel in future please email Kathryn Bilyard on kathryn@artcry.co.uk with some information about yourself and why you are interested.
