Tell us about yourself

I am one of those people that cannot give a simple answer about myself! This is very much true of those like me, who have complex heritage and migration histories. This is also reflected in my interests and projects that I take on personally and professionally.
I am originally a trained art historian and contemporary art curator, and have been working in the Visual Arts for 17 years now. I have held many different roles in my professional work so far - most recently project managing large scale temporary art exhibitions. The result of getting more experienced professionally (aka getting older!) is having now led on over fifty-five major exhibitions/projects in the UK and globally across five different continents in my professional Visual Arts career so far.

My professional work does not define me as a person and therefore in my personal work, I am an artist, researcher and cultural producer. I currently have a thing for glazes and scholar rocks.

What excites you about being part of the ARTCRY panel?

I have been on the receiving end of challenging and inequalities in arts funding, so I am excited to be part of a collaborative panel that helps bringing ideas to life that make a real difference.

What components would your dream application have?

Passion, relates to the real world, clear direction, high-quality, urgency and most importantly: respectful.

The Steering Committee
The company directors and panel are involved on an individual capacity, not representing their organisations and on a voluntary basis.
If you are interested in joining the panel in future please email Kathryn Bilyard on kathryn@artcry.co.uk with some information about yourself and why you are interested.
