Award 2: Get A Life Magazine

Our second award was to Get A Life Magazine, a new arts publication aiming to lift the lid on sickness through the lens of young creatives and patients. The work was created in response to living with illness through a pandemic.

ISSUE 01 features artwork, photography and words centred around cancer + coronavirus from over 50 young creatives and patients currently "locked up" across the globe. ARTCRY funding supported 1,050 free printed copies of GET A LIFE Issue 01 to be distributed amongst Teenage Cancer Trust hospital units across the UK as well as selected universities, charities, galleries, individuals, media platforms, stockists + more.

Creator Cressi Sowerbutts says - "Over the 2020 COVID-19 lock-down period, we decided to create GET A LIFE. A digital + limited edition print arts publication aiming to lift the lid on sickness — in a fun way. We believe that the multi-faceted range of the arts can help young people to feel equipped and empowered when facing sickness, rather than unaware and isolated. Within each issue we hope to raise awareness of two selected illnesses while offering a voice to patients, a platform for up-and-coming creatives and an opportunity for readers to be proactive, with the option to donate."

Head to www.getalifemag.com to get your free digital version, buy limited edition prints and get exclusive online content (all proceeds will support Teenage Cancer Trust and NHS Charities Together). Here is a peek at the In The Dark sessions created especially for Get A Life.

The work of the Get A Life team is incredible and the artwork from all the young creatives featured is moving, insightful, nuanced and fun! We are very proud to have been able to support this work on it's first edition.
